A non-profit Trustworthy Internet Movement (TIM) will publish regularly the list of secured and unsecured websites to improve online security and awareness among internet users.
After a websites survey the TIM group found out that even 52% of tested pages use security protocols known as compromised. It was survey of the most basic Internet security software what includes SSL certificates.
It is one of the fundamental parts of the internet - said TIM's founder, Philippe Courtot. It makes trustworthy and security online. That is why many websites use SSL certificates to encrypt on-line communication with personal data, payments etc.
TIM will test web pages in two parts. The first one would use automated tools which scan site security and show bad or good points of it. Everyone is now going to be able to see who has a good grade and who has a bad grade - Courtot said. Second part of testing is to check Certificate Authorities to know that its products are still reliably.
Trustworthy Internet Movement has been set up by security experts (PayPal, WhiteHat, Qualys etc.) and business people who want strong improvements in online safety. The group mainly focus on technology the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
